Hathi Chhap: A collection of Printed and Patchwork Textiles
The brief was to create a consolidate range for kids, home and apparel; in an amalgamation of various techniques. The brand identity revolves around traditional repertoire and a contemporary style. The products reflect the artistry and craftsmanship of artisans.
For kids, market analysis and trend research led to a series of contemporary prints, inspired by the Great Jungle Safari. A line of clothing and home products for infants was developed. Accessories were also included. For “home,” inspiration was taken from traditional patchwork styles, new products and compositions were introduced by playing with different textures, prints, styles and panels; thereby amalgamating different styles and inspirations to come up with concepts.
The last segment (for domestic market) required research of peers and company’s own past collections. Working on placement prints in Ajrakhpur was the grand finale. The collection was constructed with traditional Ajrakh printing techniques placed with contemporary sensibilities.
