PAPERCUT Crafting celebrations in paper
Different aspects of paper were looked at. Gift products, comprising paper bags, boxes, tags and cards were designed. Different techniques, like laser cutting, die-cutting, screen printing, lamination, fusing, etc. were explored and engineered designs looked at.
A range of paper décor products were designed for Diwali, including hangings inspired from torans, and tea light holders ornamented with paper designs. Also, collapsible paper lamps, based on traditional and modern aesthetics.
To create three-dimensional seamless forms, woven ‘off-the loom’ lamps were designed, in which the structure is woven completely on the loom with very few post production finishes. Home décor products were created, using waste materials –a wall art of ruffled achhada; multi-printed backcloth used to cover a block printing table; a chakli table mat made from coiled paper chords and a long, woven, collapsible paper tube that can be twisted around.
