diploma project
Cars and Crafts
The project specifically aimed at gathering inspiration from Indian crafts and redefining usage by suggesting applications in automotives for today and tomorrow. Apart from automotive, crafts and user research in the first four months, the project brief was open-ended and meant developing concepts and explorations for any car.
Through regular discussion and work reviews with the GM team, the brief slowly and gradually was directed towards a textile-oriented outcome for seat area of Chevrolet beat. Without any production or costing-oriented constraints, the final outcome was focused on abstraction of craft and use of real craft-based techniques.
Out of seven explorations for the seat, three were taken forward for virtual renders and physical prototyping. The set of three stylish, trendy and energetic seat accessories came out as a final outcome.
