SPUN: A hand crafted cushion collection
The project involved working with handcrafts in collaboration with a Non Governmental Organisation, Gramshree, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, to develop a set of handcrafted cushion covers for international and Indian markets; empowering women along the way.
The project began with market research to develop a unique identity. The next step was to visit Gramshree and meet the "working hands," understand the process, skills and work enthusiasm.’ The lot divided into three main categories: luxury, premium and basic. One worked on luxury and spun.
The first phase involved design conceptualisation based on two different themes and palette. The first was inspired by Mughal and Moroccan art with sophisticated regal hues; while the second moodboard was full of fun towards a neon retro style. In second phase, final execution was done, producing a new range of handcrafted cushion covers.
