Disruptive Innovation for Cardiac Care in Emerging Market
The objective was finding unmet needs in cardiac care, focus being surgical treatments in emerging markets, and developing disruptive concepts based on clinical needs. Research was focused on system level understanding of CVDs market characterisation and finding unmet needs across patient care path; focusing on surgical treatments and primary stakeholders.
Angioplasty being comparatively new and fast growing, the study focuses on coronary angiography and angioplasty. Clinical immersion studies and VOCs were conducted to identify unmet clinical needs, after prioritising unmet needs. Concepts were developed for product innovation, leading to development of ‘Quanta control,’ which lets Cardiologists inject optimal measured quantities of radioactive dye with pre-pressurised syringe for fluoroscopic images.
The way to become commercial is to undergo technological feasibility tests from PES engineering and develop clinical prototypes and clinical trials with KOLs. The unmet needs found and concepts developed would be further used for pitching project proposals to Meditech companies.
