Portable Power

With no significant upgrades in battery technology, mobile devices which used to comfortably last the week, can now barely see themselves through the day. This, coupled with today’s increasingly mobile lifestyle and people’s ever-expanding gadget list, has seen the market spur a whole host of portable energy solutions.

For the diploma project, one was faced with the daunting task of breaking through the clutter in this saturated space. Armed with design thinking, numerous concepts were generated, rigorous prototyping was executed, samples were deployed, feedback was acquired, and industrial detailing was engineered; for making the nominated concept a reality.

With the potential to disrupt the existing portable battery market, the culminating solution not only fulfilled the inceptive intent of the project, but also went beyond, to enable a new level of connectivity between mobile devices.
