Near eye display based information overlay system for Industrial Applications

The aim was coming up with an effective and realisable design of a near-eye display-based information system, which operators can use to receive information, while being alerted during abnormalities and emergencies. The aspects to be looked into were ergonomics, functionality, usability, suitability, assembly, testing, and rapid prototyping of the same.

Several usability and technology prototypes were created to demonstrate various set-ups. The final prototype was made in two parts, one being the technology demonstrator, the other for usability. The main deliverables were to specify the technology that would be viable for the given case, along with usability issues.

One was always grounded to the fact that industry and design should be on the same page. Though path-breaking innovation requires zero restrictions, in order for the ideas to be realised in the industrial world, engineers and designers must go hand in hand towards a proposed solution.
