Frugal Vending Machine @ Point Of Sale
The initial brief was to research consumer packaging and find the opportunity areas to develop with best possible solutions for creating identity in packaging. Most households consider dish-washing detergents as one of their basic, but expensive needs. Making it affordable to many led to a study, which found that the packaging cost constitutes roughly 35% of product cost.
A drive towards “zero packaging” gave birth to this project. It was to be achieved through a vending machine system at ‘point of sale.’ This project encompassed studying consumers and their buying behavior in a foreign context. In line with drawn conclusions, different vending solutions were built. Interaction with the vending machine and its physical design such that it fits into the existing set up were major challenges.
