Ergonomics Enhancements on Sonar Console for Submarine

The project involved designing a next generation sonar console for submarines in the Indian Navy, technology remaining the same. The design and development of the device went through all the stages of product development—starting with understanding the initial concept model, giving insights for concept refinement, research, interaction with electronics engineers, mechanism ideation and tests, creating a design with repeated iterations and prototype development; ultimately leading to the final design ready for manufacturing. With due consideration to aesthetics, styling, and ergonomics, a simple, compact, easy to use and functionally competent solution was formulated with a view to make it a successful product for sonar console operators.
