Design Opportunity Mapping in Maternal and Child Health

The project looks at critical junctures in the thousand-day window in the life of a mother and child, which begins at the conception of the child and goes up to the point when the child is two years of age. The focus area is rural Bihar, as defined by the client.

With some secondary research in the form of expert interviews and online study, extensive primary research in rural districts of Bihar over five weeks, analysis of data and ideation exercises, innovation directions and possible design opportunities were mapped out. These opportunity areas were then showcased at a design conclave in collaborative sessions to gather feedback and to build upon the ideas.

As a result of the diploma project, several project opportunities were defined, some of which have already begun to be executed with the right partners to be able to implement and create an impact.
