A Design Inquiry into the IOT
The project is a practical, user-centric design-based investigation into the Internet of Things. Exploring the mega global trends of shifts in environment, health and culture; ‘Personal emergencies in disconnected families’ was a theme that emerged out of the research. Research was undertaken in Munich, Germany and New Delhi, India to understand needs and inspire solutions from within a developed, as well as an emerging economy.
The outcome of the project was a documentation of insights, opportunities and a series of explorations and provocations. The three different concepts that were designed would be used as conversation starters to spur a global discussion within the creative community about the potential and implications of the Internet of Things. Most importantly, these concepts are methods in themselves, to inform future products and services about the importance of taking a people-centric view on the issue.
