The Grunge Effect: A Retail Experience
This project was undertaken to develop interior design for a furniture retail showroom. One also worked on developing systems for display units, screens, partitioning systems and surface finishes.
Extensive research was done; case studies were undertaken. A mood board was developed with basic concepts. Initial ideation was developed further towards a concrete solution. The retail space had to be segregated into three zones to classify furniture and products based on quality, finish, price range. Concepts were developed and presented as drawings and models.
There is heavy emphasis on detailing. All components resonate to form a cohesive whole. Extensive work was done with reclaimed wood to develop screens and partitioning systems. The space was built with natural finishes and materials. The end result reflects a grunge and industrial-themed interior design. This project is an example of value-addition through design.
