Elee

The film revolves around a recession-hit, nuclear urban family, where the husband is a jobless, whisky-glugging, chain smoking, couch potato, who has been laid off from work and sits at home, watching TV; while the wife is the breadwinner. The complacency and frequent spurts of frustration lead to emotional abuse of the wife and its effect on the child.

Amidst this perfect boiling brew, an elephant, Elee, pops out of nowhere. Unseen by anyone but capable of seeing everyone, it is an illogical being with seemingly no influence on reality; but nevertheless, looks for comfort and solace.

The child isn’t biased towards either parent, but picks up on the mood and reacts to it, in its own way. An unwitting but helpless participant, it is caught up in the dynamics between the couple. The story ties up the couple, their mutual problems and the existence of the elephant.
