Mumbai Meri Jaan

The brief was to create an animated video to the song, “Mumbai Meri Jaan," written and produced by AIB, which borrows the music of “Yeh hai Bombay meri jaan” from the movie CID. The lyrics are written keeping in mind one’s experiences in this jam-packed city of dreams.

The project began with developing the lyrics. Since AIB, a stand-up comedy group, had performed bits and pieces of the song at live shows, the idea was to combine all those little bits, add newer ones and record it. Next, one began working on the visuals. Not only were they animated to match the beat and tempo, the comic timing had to be impeccable.

The film was mainly animated frame by frame, hand drawn on Adobe Flash. The backgrounds were made in Photoshop and then placed in Flash. Compositing was done in Adobe Premiere and some parts in Adobe After Effects.
