My diploma film showed the last hours of a man on the run. After getting lost in a forest he finds that he has reached a shore. Soon his head starts bleeding. The day is extremely hot and he suffers from a heat stroke and collapses. Some kids playing on the beach spot this man hiding in a bush. They have a horrific encounter with him and run off. They come back with their friends and start looking for this man. The idea behind making this film was to convey the isolation and loneliness of a person who can commit anything wrong because of his desperate situation. The lonely beach and shore, the cliffs and the big waves, the kids serve as the only witnesses to his end. I explored several ideas before finalizing one and scripting it. The entire script was not storyboarded since some parts did not require it. The film was shot in Diu over a period of 4 days. I came up with several rough cuts before finalizing my edits. Making a soundtrack is the most interesting part of post-production. Some music was created using real instruments. This film developed out of my notebook. It has been an exercise, a learning influenced by all the movies I have seen and the places I have visited during the course of doing the diploma project. Many new things came up on the technical and creative side which I want to use in the future. |
