My diploma film dealt with the story of Vivek and his mother who lived in the southern
temple town of Guruvayur. When his father got a job in the city his mother and he joined
him in the city. Vivek had to leave not only his beloved home town, but also his bosom
friend, Gobban as well who was an elephant keeper for the temple. While I was growing
up, my family and I had to move from one to another place several times. Every time we
settled in we had to move which meant leaving behind friends, both old and new. The
idea of this story was drawn from those childhood memories. The original English script
was translated to Malayalam. I went location scouting in Guruvayur where I went to
the Institute of Mural Painting. I asked a person to draw the elements for the animated
sequences of my film. The shoot took place over a period of 5 days. I edited the film on
my laptop. All the dialogues were dubbed in the studio. The music for my film as well as
colour correction was done with external help. Treating the project like a professional
job is very important. I think that I was successful in adding the necessary finish to this
project. I intend to learn from my mistakes so that I can do my best in the future. |
