My diploma film was about an old village woman, Soma (50) who awaited the arrival of
her son, Nitin (28) after 3 years of separation. Nitin, who worked in a mobile company
in the city called up his mother one day to inform her that his company was going to
launch cellular service in their village because of which he might visit the village. Soma
is happy with this news while the villagers are excited about the onset of mobile network
in the village. The film aimed to throw light on the pure and unconditional love of a
mother towards her child, no matter how near or far he/she is. I chose to shoot in some
villages of Gujarat. After completing my storyboard, I made a location-wise shooting
script. I auditioned and chose the actors for my film. I hired a production co-ordinator
to look into the props and costumes required. The shoot was done over a period of 4
days. The editing was done in Adobe Premier Pro. Most of the dialogue was dubbed in
the local Gujarati accent. Some minor compositing, colour correction and effects were
added using Adobe After Effects. Through this film, I developed a sense of management
and planning by co-ordinating the entire schedule of production. I also realized that film
making is a collective effort towards achieving the same objective. |
