The purpose of my diploma work was to investigate the possibilities of gesture detection and recognition in real time from a technical perspective without forgetting future goals such as implementations on mobile platforms with reduced computing power. The outcome of this project would be a research on gestures in user interfaces, which would form the basis of further work on the project. The possibilities of 3D in user interfaces would be researched as well, so that the final interface would be aesthetically balanced. The critical part about projection interfaces would be discussed as well. All this compiled together would form the framework for further explorations. The project was extended to design interactions on primary as well as secondary display. The primary display consisted of the touch screen, for cellphones running under Android and for iPhone. The secondary display was the projected UI. The concepts and mock-ups prepared for secondary interfaces were exploratory and meant only for demonstration purpose. This documentation was later on divided to explain various interfaces made for primary displays and the secondary display. |
