My diploma brief was to design and develop a premium range combo for gifting each other throughout the year and on the Valentine’s Day in order to express one’s feeling of love and joy. The target audience was higher income group working youth in the age group of 25 to 35 years. I started my work with information collection on drink ware, Valentine’s Day and related gifts; user groups such as school teenagers, college youngsters, young professionals as well as aged people. I also tried to list out keywords related to user preferences and combined them. These refined and targeted keywords led to the study of user psychology, needs and demands with respect to market. I combined all information to come up with a model, which reflected user needs and aspirations specially with respect to their age. After conducting detailed study of user psychology, behavior, their interpersonal relations as well as their expression of thoughts and feelings in the given socio-cultural context, I got the idea and design directions about their choice and requirements matching their lifestyle in terms of the product’s usability. I started opportunity mapping, and after several discussions, I narrowed down the brief to coffee mugs as drink ware range. Next phases were brainstorming, conceptualization, and exploration, design detailing and final models. This project gave me the first hand experience of working in industry on a real project. |
