The project brief was to design a collection of saris woven on jacquard handlooms based on the theme of Gond Art. This was a journey from ‘farm to fashion'; a collection for today’s contemporary market for the brand ‘Ethicus’ comprising 16 saris. Here, borders, the pallu, the body, and the blouse also had to be designed. Ethicus is primarily focused on organic, ethical and sustainable fashion. They are involved in growing of this cotton right up to its value addition on traditional jacquard hand looms in Pollachi. The collection needed to reflect the organic sensibility of the brand and the theme and enhance the beauty of such a light cotton fabric.
