Guide

Suta is divided into three sub projects: ‘Orimono’, ‘Parat’ and ‘Bati ‘. Orimono primarily focuses on developing contemporary and commercially viable woven textiles in the form of stoles for the Japanese market. ‘Parat’ includes a range of garments for the domestic market aiming at women with a fuller body type. The concept used for the collection was ‘waste to wealth’. The techniques used were machine embroidery and applique to create interesting surfaces. ‘Bati’ was done in collaboration with Mr Narayan Sinha, a famous metal sculptor from Kolkata. The objective was to come up with unique surfaces for lampshades.
