Guide
Swasti Singh Ghai

The project titled ‘The Scent of the Orient’ is an in-depth study of Parsi Gara embroidery, which is a combination of Chinese, Persian, Indian and European influences. The project aimed at designing Garas for the upper middle class segment with a considerably fresh approach towards traditional designs. Ashdeen hand-embroidered sari designs are inspired by centuries of Oriental and Persian hand embroidery techniques, craft and craftsmanship. The details of these techniques are rendered flawlessly and backed by ten years of meticulous research. The collection explores the charm of blue and white Chinese porcelain. Motifs from these fine pieces have been embroidered in tonal shades of blue and cream on the products.
