The project was an effort to innovate and create products of block printing and Dabu resist printing with indigo dyeing in the village of Umedpura, in Jawad district, Madhya Pradesh, and market them globally. The emphasis was on understanding the working and tradition of the craft cluster and introducing a new dimension to their craft using their existing resources and techniques. The guidelines and parameters for the designs were derived from the tradition and craft already existing in the village like the existing visual vocabulary, technical possibilities and existing skills.
