My project brief was to develop a curriculum and strategy for Indian Institute of Craft and Design’s (IICD) one of the two non-design programmes; namely, One Year Certificate Course in Craft Research and Development. The project was carried out at IICD. I was required to meet people in the field of design education and coordinate an intellectual workshop with IICD for developing the craft research and development programme. The programme would be of one year’s duration and would take international scholars and graduates from various disciplines with relevant work experience in the field of design. This project gave me an opportunity to work with a premier craft and design institute in India on an academic exercise that was both challenging and complex. The project was exciting in terms of responsibility and the understanding of the subject matter. The challenge, the objective, and the enthusiasm I had for the vast subject matter and the further scope of the project made it a very intriguing diploma project. Therefore, I chose to take up this project which was intellectually challenging and gave me an opportunity to interact with and know the opinions of some of the eminent and accomplished people in field of design and craft education. |
