Experience Visualised (A Visual Narrative through Mohiniyattam)

The project is an approach for articulating the visual experience of
unseen emotions in classical dance with the integration of new
media. It revolves around two entities: 'bhava' (diverse feelings and alteration of human state) and 'rasa' (observer’s enlightenment and experience).

By and decoding the highly specialised background knowledge of classical dance and human perception, a visual grammar is developed. The generative video is developed by a responsive pattern generator, controlled and triggered by dancers expressions. The pattern generator takes the guidelines óf 'angika-abhinaya' for visual design of different 'bhavas.'

The evocative generative art produces different flexible images which paint the dancers emotions on the screen. Such symmetries and asymmetries video enlighten the dancer and viewer, as they travel through the performance.
