My diploma project dealt with packaging design and creating an identity for an Asian Paints product called The Colour Spectra Pro. The shade box set comes in a set of six individual decks identical in size, but varied in thickness (depending on the number of colours per deck). The project started with building an identity for the product and moving on to make an appropriate design to package it, keeping in mind the consumer requirements and product constraints. The next step was the application of the identity on the package design and to come up with an efficient indexing system for a consumer to navigate through the six colour decks and hence accommodate index books in the package design. The target group was mainly architects and interior designers.
The project offered me an opportunity to have hands on experience with structures and materials and find a solution to the tangible problems. It also helped me use graphic design in a three dimensional space. |
