My diploma film’ Ek Aur Do’ was intended at celebrating reality and bringing out the
depths of everyday life. As a student, I had been away from home for the last 10 years
and I could identify with a similar character. So I picked up a college student as the
protagonist for my diploma film. Amit, a college student woke up on a Sunday morning
with a bad hangover. He decided to go out and have a cup of tea. The people and the
events that follow didn’t help Amit in anyway rather add to his discomfort, restlessness,
impatience and anger. Amit tried to keep his calm and have his breakfast peacefully, but
everything around does not go his way.
The script, storyboard and the shot breakdown were completed first. The film was shot
on SONY Z1 HDV camera with SONY mediator HDV63 tape. The shooting took a total
of 7 days. The editing and colour correction were done using Final Cut Studio Pro. The
dialogues were dubbed and foley sounds were added in post production. The music was
created using jam packs in the Garage Band software. For my film, I tried to focus on
scripting, story and dialogue. I tried to show a slice of life that everybody can identify
with and also followed the maxim of showing what I know about. |
