This film being a self-sponsored project had no brief. I had my own story and I wanted to make a film on the same. The film is about the beginning of a journey and the personal experience of a boy.
A sixteen-year-old boy leaves home in the middle of a cold night. We find him sitting near a railway station and waiting for the first morning train to arrive. While waiting, he recalls his past, where he is having fun and playing with friends.
There is a dream sequence in which he sees a group of birds and wishes to be one of them so that he can go wherever he wants. I tried to compose this dream sequence in virtual 3D space to create a nostalgic mood. After this flash back, as his imaginative visuals hallucinate around him, the train appears. As he tries to get up, his crutch falls down revealing his disability. But, he gets into the train to continue his journey though he knows not where this journey is going to lead him.
Apart from the technical aspect of the film, I acquired a great understanding about several things like medium, timing, conceptualization, and the technical language. During the one and half years I spent in the making of this film, I have realized certain values in terms of life and work, what makes one happy and what does not. On the basis of my learning, I made many changes throughout the process of filmmaking. Yet, I knew where to compromise as far as practicality was concerned. With the completion of the film, a whole new realization as to what more could be done to tell the story in a better way dawned upon me.
