An electric vehicle (EV), also referred to as an electric drive vehicle, uses one or more electric motors for propulsion. Marketing has forecasted a demand for a four-door car. The brief for this project was to find out if there was a need to extend the wheelbase/entire length of the current REVA NXR, while keeping its form intact.

Packed with user-friendly technologies, the REVA NXR is a stylish two-door hatchback with a room for four adults. It reaches a top speed of 104 kmph while providing a range of 160 km. The NXR can text you crucial information such as time-to-full-change, pre-heat or pre-cool the car, mail you a report about your driving habits and unlock the door as you approach. It also features a revolutionary technology that addresses anxiety: REVive.

The next step was to launch a vehicle which was larger than the original REVA and the subsequent REVAi models. This would help Reva Electric to cater to the requirements of space and practicality and make inroads into the mainstream hatchback segment abroad and subsequently in India. A typical family hatchback in India usually allows for the seating of four passengers. The prototype and buck made by converting the two-door NXR platform into a four-door one was studied and used for detailed analysis.

The knowledge I was imparted in ergonomics as a student at NID helped me to analyze the intent in detail. Packaging skills were developed in the process and the approach to car design was very industry-oriented, which prepared me for the project. This process of temendous learning has helped increase my skills exponentially.
