This project was based on the broad theme of “capture, share, and relive”. The present day photowares (photo management applications) are very passive in nature. There is a learning curve which does not welcome all users. Better ways of reliving would attract people and make them see their pictures frequently. There should be an incentive for everything; for instance, in social networks, the incentives are the “likes” and comments which make people go back to the media they have uploaded.
Most of the present day photowares focus on editing rather than reliving; this tends to decrease the “relive” quotient and increase the information overload. The end goal of the project was to “create a better photo relive experience”. The design process included background research, designing, prototyping, and evaluation. It turned out to be a blend of information, interaction, and interface design. The information design part helped identify the type of data used and represent information in the visual form.
Deciding on the scenarios, creating wireframes, and concept flows were a part of interaction design. Initial research began with referring to books and research papers on the internet. Once, the context was established, an extensive user research was done. Thereafter, the analysis lead to the key inferences, based on which the design solution and scenarios were created as end deliverables.
A prototype was created for testing with the users. Over the course of the project, different approaches of design research methods were applied. User-centric research methods were also attempted. |
