Synopsis

The project was envisaged as an attempt to understand methodology of developing systems for design intervention in the social sector. The project takes hygiene and sanitation as the core concern, and looks at its local dynamics in the urban poor landscape on the backdrop of the metropolitan city of Pune, and lays down a systematic approach for design intervention at various levels. The project goes through four stages, namely convergence (primary data collection regarding the subject and defining the goal and context), divergence (secondary data collection with respect to the goal and context), consolidation (data mapping, data analysis, opportunities for design intervention – audience, messages and medium) and implementation (enacting design solutions and improvising on practical challenges).
