Synopsis
This project was divided into two phases: the first one being to design an automotive seat cover to provide quick cooling and comfort to the user, and the second to develop an instant hand-held cooling device for aid in medical emergencies. Both the products were based on the principle of thermoelectric cooling.
For the first deliverable, an in-depth research and user study on various aspects of comfortable cooling was conducted before the final prototype of the seat cover was made. This included the strategic placement of air vents, the eight cooling points and pressure sensors for it to work automatically. With ergonomics as the major focus, research for design intervention in the second deliverable differed vastly from the first.
