Synopsis
The aim of this project was to design home furnishing fabrics for drapes and upholstery for the international market.
The design was developed keeping in mind low production costs and current market trends while remaining versatile enough to be reinvented or reused later. Explorations were carried out in, textures, stripes, geometric and ethnic designs, designs and country floral motifs on various materials like silk, viscose, acrylic, cotton and linen. Many techniques like weave variations, interaction between colours, embellishments and effect of light were used. Cost constraints on product development were studied and ways to overcome these were devised by constructing complex weaves from simple ones .
