Synopsis
Deep research into understanding the human history of marriage and wedding customs; social structures and hierarchies; and family patterns led to outcome of this project.
The photographs taken attempt to re-contemplate the evolution of the early theories and doctrines about traditional Hindu weddings all the way to their contemporary interpretation. Also highlighted through the vivid images is a satirical interpretation of the decadence in the value system surrounding weddings. The photos subtly evoke a comparison of the hierarchal and social status of women in the ancient and present-day India.
