Synopsis

The project centred on redesigning a next generation thermostat from a fresh perspective. Research was carried out on the current trends in the international market and existing competitive products. Emphasis was placed on making the product more user-friendly; it was designed to have effective visualisation and give an out-of-the-box experience.

A new approach, merging form design with digital design, gave rise to new interaction paradigms like a voice-based control which combines speech recognistion, machine translation and text-to-speech capabilities; an advanced gesture recognition; and motion detection to provide a high user-experience impact.
