Synopsis
This project started with a short brief to design kitchen organisers for young people between the ages of twenty-two to thirty, who do not have permanent homes and live in compact spaces like studio apartments, hostels, etc.
Research involved understanding of the target users’ activities in the kitchen. The objective was to make a unit which is more than a kitchen cabinet, and becomes a part of the day-to-day life of the user. The final outcomes were two units made in a stainless steel framework, with nylon rope weave. Ambient lighting; a panel for magnets; a glass panel for putting up picture postcards; an external pocket to hold mobiles, leaflets, etc. added to the utility value of the product.
