Synopsis
Gujarat’s coast line, with its prominent trade routes and rich biodiversity plays a significant role in making the state a centre of commercial importance.
This photographic documentation was done with a specific purpose of exposing how massive industrial development has affected the environment and the socio-economic conditions of local communities in these regions, that is to say the large part of the benefit of the said development goes to the urban, more specifically the rich sections of society at the expense of local livelihood. The photographs with supporting text, portrays such stories focusing on the disruption of homogeneous relationship the locals have formed over the centuries with their environment with a view to create awareness in the target urban audience.
