Synopsis
This project involved developing two collections of women’s apparel with due emphasis on commercial viability and cost-effectiveness. Design elements like prints, embroideries and detailing were to be used minimally yet intelligently with a view to enhance pre-existing bodies using appropriate fabrics and derive classic and cohesive ensembles that could easily be mixed and matched for formal or special occasions.
Inspired by the miniature paintings of Bundi, Rajasthan, the festive collection saw the use of traditional Aari embroidery of Kachchh, Gujarat and metallic khadi printing on silk, velvet, chanderi, pure georgette and satin. The formal range was minimally embellished with bandhani (tie and dye) and various embroidery stitches popularly used in Kachchh.
