Synopsis
The inhabitants of Bodoland, Assam, consist of several ethnic tribes who face an identity loss in the face of legal and territorial infringement by foreigners; different demands of the populace and their history of inter-communal violence have caused naught but turmoil in the social structure. The objective of this photography project is to focus on the identity of Bodo people in the Bodoland Territorial Council. What does it mean to be a Bodo in Bodoland?
The ‘Sinaithi’ project incorporates various elements of three prominent styles of photography – documentary, journalistic and a fine art style. The poignant black and white images pose as an eye-opener to the sufferance of the Bodos.
