Synopsis
This research-intensive project focused on re-assessing the situation of India’s huge mass of un-banked population with an aim to extract a mental model of their financial behaviour.
Creative research methodologies, as opposed to the regular questionnaire style of research, were used to elicit information from people without making them uncomfortable. This helped gain a deeper insight into their attitude towards money management without forming biases based on their observed choices and outcomes. A range of metaphors that creatively visualised the money management practices and decisions of the low-income groups defined various guidelines for the service industry replacing the archaic intellectualised language of charts and reports by an efficient communication strategy.
