Synopsis
The evolution of Indian cuisine has been influenced by geography, weather, religion and various foreign invasions to say the least. The unique food philosophy of each state is synonymous with its culture.
But what are the origins of these simple constituents of the staple Indian diet? Where do they really originate from and why are they so named? This short animated documentary film explores the evolution and origins of one such humble food from the state of Kerala, a sweet rice cake called unniappam. Through the portrayal of its origin and preparation, the film piques the audience’s curiosity – what is the significance of this little preparation? Did the food make the state or did the state make the food?
