Synopsis
The key to improved automotive fuel efficiency is reduced mass. In recent decades plastics have undergone numerous technological advancements, new design solutions, and eco-performance enhancements.
This project offered an opportunity to work with such innovative materials in a possible future case scenario. The aim was to showcase the enormous potential of innovative plastics and push the design envelope in the automotive industry.
The final design proposed space optimisation through a hanging seat layout. This also eliminated the extra weight of seat base support. Various innovative materials were used to augment the aesthetic elements of the dashboard and consoles; to simulate of natural materials like wood; and to design a panoramic sunroof with UV blocking technology.
