Synopsis
The project aimed at developing a high-end range of living room furniture by integrating contemporary aesthetics into the traditional furniture style of southern India.
The final outcome was a lavish two-seater sofa. With the white ash wood giving a natural finish, using cotton and polyester tapes (otherwise used in fashion accessories) for weaving the backrest, lent a fresh contemporary feel to the end product. Clean rectilinear lines and simplicity of the materials lent the product a unique aesthetic value. The range also included two single-seater chairs, a bench, a centre coffee chest and two side chests.
