Synopsis
The aim of the project was to design an electronic lock for Indian domiciles. Convenience and style were the two major areas that the design of the lock aimed to address.
The final prototype of the lock featured dual credentials (fingerprint and keypad) for access control and a basic level of mechanical interaction as well, making it quick and easy to use by one and all including those who may lack technological savvy. The contemporary and sleek form designed to minimise the volume of the lock lent it an aesthetic appeal whereas a mechanical override facility, privacy and auto-locking, a camera and tamper alarm provided functional value.
