Synopsis
A contemporary take on the existing traditional dynamic toys was the theme of this project. The target audience being children between five to eleven years of age, safety factors were given special attention like using non-toxic natural materials and elimination of sharp pointy edges.
Six working model prototypes using simple skills and hand tools were made, each being a modified and refined version of an existing folk toy. Apart from being lightweight, portable and foldable, their aesthetic appeal lent them decorative value. The toys were designed to improve gross and fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination in children and to simultaneously promote learning like balancing, counting and mathematical logic and reasoning.
