Synopsis
The purpose of this design project was to strike the right balance between innovating new ways of exploration of the form and functioning of a dental X-ray machine using design sensibilities. The base unit and the tube head of the machine needed revamping to create a more ergonomic and elegant form, whilst maintaining stability and durability.
The tube head was given three swing arms for flexibility of movement and an ergonomic handle with a hand rest which supported the tube head more easily. Apart from this functional face-lift, a screen displaying soothing visuals was added to engage and relax the patient whilst being X-rayed.
