Synopsis
Keeping pace with innovation in the health care industry, this project aimed at designing a five-parameter manual external defibrillator. An in-depth research was carried out into understanding the critical situations in which it would be used and finding the best possible ways to reduce and eliminate any risk of error.
Design intervention focused on the improvement of opportunity areas like communication (screen interface), usability, safety and performance. The final output was a compact, aesthetically pleasing functional design of a defibrillator with a modifiable and customised user interface, a prominent and easy-to-access handle, light indications to ensure proper paddle contact, and external plug for the paddles, to name a few.
