The film takes a look at the seemingly frivolous, but for the protagonist, a heavily-weighted issue of deciding which sari to wear for her school farewell. In the Indian milieu donning a sari symbolises the coming of age for a young girl but for the protagonist, Deepali, it proves to be more than just that as she discovers the importance of love and acceptance in family and relationships. The film was shot in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. It captures the essence of this small town and the aspirations of the people there. It aims at capturing the complexity of relationships, and at the same time attempts to present the situation in a simple, honest manner.
