An online platform for community-based sharing was created through this project. “Share” is an online market¬ place that encourages collaborative consumption and efficient use of daily usage resources. Its mission is to help people save money, and save the en¬vironment by encouraging reuse and sharing through person-to-person renting. Individuals can set up a store for their items by registering on the application.

A preliminary research on users and user behaviour was conducted. This was followed by an iterative process which entailed designing a minimum viable product, developing and releasing it, collecting feedback, and iterating to refine it further. After the user analysis and primary research, the best structure had to be identified, sensible content groupings, and relationships between content chunks and navigation also had to be sorted out. The design needed to be useful, efficient, and provide a user-friendly interaction environment.

This platform facilitates sharing through social media such as Facebook. Users can join different communities, based on their working area, living area, and other preferences. The product had to be conceptualised for designing the user interactions with suitable technologies.

This project focused on designing the complete user experience that simplifies users’ lives and helps them in performing their tasks easily. The future scope for this project could be designing and developing this application for mobile phones. Through this project, it was realised that although listening to users was very important in order to practise user-centric design, one cannot act upon every user request. If a request for a feature keeps recurring, it is time to look deeper and move forward, based on sound reason and validation.
