The objective of this project was to enrich the sponsorís product offering and strengthen its product mix. Personal goals also included learning to generate quick ideas and working as per the guidelines, costs, and good design had to co-exist. A design culture was introduced to the sponsor to help it understand the role of design in effective product development. The final deliverables had to include the sponsorís signature collection of vanity, travel, and home-office accessories and luxury games. The brief also included designing soft furniture pieces; functional and commercial.

It was necessary to know the consumer, the Hong Kong market, and the sponsorís brand language. This helped in developing the right range of products and in synthesising a real life consumer persona. The methodology adopted combined consumer research, market trends, and the sponsorís brand language into product features, form, and aesthetics. The range developed was also supported by a lot of inferences drawn from lifestyle and design trends in Hong Kong and other nations.

Research became the basis of the design development process which involved form generation and exploration with materials and techniques. The most feasible ideas were taken forward for sampling. A lot of constraints with use of material, resources and trials were met with; but within these constraints itself, a lot of permutations and combinations were tried.

The intention was to develop more products in limited time and prove the feasibility of certain pieces. With practical changes at crucial points, the range was given shape. A few ideas were dropped, while some were simplified, yet most of the pieces were designed as planned.
